Just change the caption
August 12, 2008 – 4:51 pmMark Frauenfelder has a very interesting article at boing boing. This is one thing I never paid attention to.
He cites a recent Errol Morris op-ed in New York Times which talks about how changing captions on photographs changes our thinking and mentality.
We all remember satellite imagery that was used to substantiate Iraq’s involvement in WMD. Well, now we know that such things could easily be manipulated. You don’t need to change anything on the photograph itself but the captions. That is all - and the image takes on a whole new meaning.
Have a look.

I personally try to look at things from different angles and try to scrutinize them, and had my doubts about the images provided prior to the invasion of Iraq but never thought that it could be manipulated this easily.
Whether the images were real or fake (which of course I don’t know), this article by Errol will definitely give us a new way of manipulating photographs- without the need for an advanced software.
